In short

Melbourne Counselling Centre accepts self-referred and GP-referred clients aged 16 and over, plus couples, with no referral required and typical availability within a week. The practice does not diagnose, assess, prescribe or write insurance and medico-legal reports, and Medicare rebates do not apply to counselling.

Melbourne Counselling Centre provides counselling and psychotherapy for individuals aged 16 and over and for couples, delivered online across Australia and New Zealand, by telephone, or in person in Melbourne by arrangement. The practitioner is Anne Evans, counsellor, psychotherapist and TRTP practitioner, with twelve years of practice. No referral is required and patients can self-book.

Please note the scope limits: this practice does not diagnose, does not provide psychometric or ADHD assessments, does not prescribe, and does not complete insurance, NDIS or medico-legal reports. Medicare rebates do not apply to counselling. Where a patient needs any of the above, a psychologist or psychiatrist is the correct referral.

Well suited

Trauma and PTSD (TRTP), relationship and couples work, anger management including court-ordered programs, anxiety, grief, stress and burnout, self-esteem.

Not suited

Acute risk, active psychosis, eating disorders requiring a medical team, court-ordered assessment, patients needing a rebated service.

Wait time

Usually within a week, including Tuesday appointments until 6.30pm. There is no waiting list.

Communication

With written patient consent, a brief summary or letter can be provided to a referring GP.

Questions people ask

Can my patient use a mental health treatment plan?+

No. Medicare plans do not cover counsellors. Patients pay privately; fees are published on the pricing page.

How do I refer?+

Give the patient the booking link or 1300 018 255. A formal referral letter is welcome but not required.

Will I receive feedback?+

With the patient’s written consent, yes — a short summary of goals and progress.
