Who you are engaging

Melbourne Counselling Centre is operated by The JACNAT Family Trust, trading as AS Consulting, ABN 44 117 442 289, and led by Anne Evans (formerly Anne Serry), counsellor, psychotherapist and trauma therapist. Contacting the practice or booking an appointment means you accept these terms.

Services provided

Counselling and psychotherapy for individuals aged 16 and over and for couples, delivered online by secure video across Australia and New Zealand, by telephone, or in person in Melbourne by arrangement. All sessions run 50 minutes. Programs such as court-ordered anger management and TRTP trauma recovery run to a defined number of sessions agreed in advance. Clients under 18 require the consent of a parent or guardian before the first appointment.

What is out of scope

This practice does not provide diagnoses, clinical or psychometric assessments, medication or prescriptions, insurance, claims or medico-legal reports, and it is not a crisis or after-hours service. A counsellor and psychotherapist is not a psychologist, psychiatrist or social worker, and the Government Mental Health Care Plan does not apply to counsellors. Outcomes

Counselling is a collaborative process and no particular outcome can be guaranteed. Clients who engage with the work between sessions are the ones who see change; where change is not being implemented, progress is slower and we will discuss that openly rather than continue indefinitely.

Fees and payment

Fees are set out on the packages and pricing page and are payable at the time of booking through the secure scheduling system. Program fees may be paid in full or session by session. No Medicare or private health rebates are available, and no refunds are issued once a session has been held. Certificates of Attendance for court-ordered programs are issued on completion and payment of the program.

Cancellations

Cancelling or rescheduling requires 48 hours’ notice. Less notice may incur a 50% fee; cancellations on the day of the appointment and missed appointments incur the full session fee. The detail is in the cancellation policy.

Confidentiality and records

Session notes and intake information are kept confidentially and handled as set out in the privacy policy. Information is disclosed only with your written permission, under subpoena, or where there is a serious and immediate risk to someone’s safety.

Your responsibilities

Complete the intake questions honestly, attend on time, and for online or telephone sessions arrange a private space and a workable connection. Sessions cannot be recorded by either party without written agreement. Abusive or threatening conduct ends the engagement.
