Online Counselling session at Melbourne Counselling Centre

Online sessions run through secure video, which means the work fits around your job, your family and the commute you would otherwise be making. Research consistently finds online counselling as effective as face-to-face therapy for anxiety, depression, stress, grief and relationship difficulties. In-person appointments in Melbourne and telephone sessions are also available if you would prefer either of those.

You need a device, headphones and fifty uninterrupted minutes. Before the first appointment you receive a private link, a short intake form and a plain-English outline of how confidentiality works. No referral is required to begin.

Online counselling suits you if

  • You live regionally, interstate or overseas and want continuity of care
  • Shift work, travel or caring duties make fixed appointments hard
  • You would rather not sit in a waiting room
  • Illness, mobility or anxiety makes leaving home difficult
  • You want Tuesday appointments until 6.30pm without the drive

What we work on together

Secure by design

Encrypted video, no recordings, and a written privacy standard you receive before we begin.

The same depth of work

Trauma work, couples work and ongoing individual counselling all run online, using the same modalities.

Useful between sessions

Notes, exercises and resources are emailed afterwards so the work continues during the week.

How the work unfolds

  1. 01

    Book and confirm

Pick a time online. Confirmation, a private video link and a short intake form arrive by email straight away.

  2. 02

    Set up your space

Somewhere you will not be overheard, headphones, and a device on a stable surface. That is the whole technical requirement.

  3. 03

    The session

Fifty minutes, same structure and depth as an in-room appointment. If the connection drops we finish by phone.

  4. 04

    After

A short written summary with anything we agreed to practise, so the work does not evaporate on the way back to your day.

“I live four hours from Melbourne. Without online sessions I simply would not have done this work.”

Common questions

What platform do you use?+

A secure, encrypted video platform that runs in your browser — nothing to install and no account to create. You click the link in your confirmation email at the appointment time.

What if my internet is unreliable?+

We agree a phone backup at the start of the first session. If video drops out we switch straight to the call and keep going, so no session is lost.

Can I have sessions from work?+

Many clients do, from a parked car or an empty meeting room. The only requirement is privacy — being overheard changes what you feel able to say.
