Name it before it lands
Recognising the physical signal early, when there is still a choice about what happens next.

Many men want closeness and were never taught the skills for it. This is practical work on understanding emotion, communicating clearly and rebuilding trust.
Per 50-minute session, plus GST. Full fees are on the packages and pricing page. Sessions run online by secure video across Australia and New Zealand, by telephone, or in person in Melbourne by arrangement.
Most men who come here are not emotionally absent. They are working with a toolkit they were handed at fourteen: fix it, minimise it, or leave the room. That toolkit performs well under pressure at work and badly in a relationship, and the gap is skills rather than character.
Sessions are direct and practical. We work on naming what you feel before it becomes anger or silence, on hearing a complaint without treating it as an attack, and on asking for what you need out loud — which is usually the part nobody ever demonstrated.
Recognising the physical signal early, when there is still a choice about what happens next.
How to hear a complaint as information rather than a verdict, and stay in the room.
Stating what you need clearly, which is a skill rather than a personality trait.

Walk through a recent argument in slow motion — the body signal, the thought, the move you made.
02
Naming states before they become anger or silence. This is a skill, and it is learnable at any age.
03
Hearing a complaint without defending, and asking for what you need out loud.

One specific change per week, reviewed honestly — including the weeks it did not happen.
“Nobody taught me any of this. Turns out it is not complicated, it is just unfamiliar.”
Client · men’s coaching
Practical coaching, informed by counselling training. Where something deeper is driving the pattern, we name it and change track.
Only where it explains something current. This is not a search for a wound.
No. Plenty of good work starts under duress. Being honest that you did not choose it is a fine first move.
