Trauma is held in the body as much as in the story. It can be resolved without reliving it in detail.
Per 50-minute session, plus GST. Full fees are on the packages and pricing page. Sessions run online by secure video across Australia and New Zealand, by telephone, or in person in Melbourne by arrangement.
Trauma counselling here is specialist work. Anne is a practitioner of The Richards Trauma Process (TRTP) and an experienced trauma therapist — an approach that works with the nervous system and the subconscious rather than requiring you to narrate the worst day of your life repeatedly.
We begin with safety and stabilisation: grounding, sleep, and enough regulation to do the work without being overwhelmed. Processing follows only when you are ready, and the pace stays yours throughout.

“I had told the story a hundred times in therapy. This was the first time I did not have to.”

No. TRTP is designed to work without retelling the detail. I need to know enough to work safely, not enough to have the whole story.
It is a structured four-part process, usually delivered across a small number of sessions with preparation beforehand and consolidation afterwards. We agree the plan before starting.
That work is slower and stabilisation matters more, but it is very much within scope. Where I think you would be better served by a psychiatrist or a specialist service, I will tell you and help you get there.
